From the recording Shine Forever
The first song I ever wrote. I loved hearing the Beach Boy's "In My Room" in the movie "Happy Feet" and I wanted to write something like that. I sat down at the piano...in my room...and I think I did just that. I performed it at the middle school talent show that year and when my Pops brought me to Phil's studio to record it, it began the Shine Forever project and my love of recording music.

Inside my head, I have an entire world all to myself.
A place to lock out all my worries and strife.
A place where I can rule as king and take control of everything, so nothing seems as bad as it really is.
Outside looking in, it seems so strange.
But, if you feel like I do, you will change and you'll agree

Inside my head, I slither and I sulk away from life.
I have no other place that I can hide.
I made my world from sticks and stones so their words could stop breaking all my bones and the scars of all my hurts would disappear.

And I'd have to say that nothing sounded sweeter.
Inside my head, I hear the people call my name in praise.
Is it truth, or are just trying to strip me down in front of the world?
I will not surrender to your fabricated pleas.

I'll stay in my darkness 'til I find a blinding light.
I'll enter it and feel safe, knowing everything's alright.
