From the recording There Will Be Cheer
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
Lyrics
It's Christmas morning and the snow is coming down
But in the air, I feel it's different somehow.
I search for joy in all the places that it once was found,
but it's more difficult when everyone is not around.
I still got lights and gifts around the Christmas tree,
but on the radio, the music stings with melancholy.
This year's been hard for us, that's very plain to see.
Especially for me.
Chorus:
I wanna get away, back to the days
When the world was truly merry and bright.
And come next year, there will be cheer
'Cause all our troubles will be out of sight.
I miss the innocence, the days we spent
Where everything was all surprise.
Yet the Northern Star still twinkles from afar
like the wonder in a child's eyes.
Now nothing here will ever be the same.
I hope the magic comes around again.
I hear the bells at night, how beautifully they ring.
When I was young, I heard that each one gave an angel wings.
I'd watch them fly away and hope to hear them sing.
I'd wish they'd stick around, I want it more than anything.
I also see the lights, they sparkle and they shine.
They remind me, this is proof of a more grand design.
Of all the kings and wise men searching for a sign.
I wonder, "is this mine?".
Chorus
